Exhibitor Spotlight: Kalipso — Closing the Gap Between Complex Regulation and Real-World Implementation

Exhibitor Spotlight: Kalipso — Closing the Gap Between Complex Regulation and Real-World Implementation

Company Name: Kalipso

What's the biggest opportunity you see for financial services over the next 3 years?

The biggest opportunity is turning compliance into an enabler of growth. Financial institutions are expanding across markets and launching products faster, while the regulatory environment around them becomes increasingly complex and fragmented. Over the next three years, the institutions that equip their legal and compliance experts to understand regulatory change faster, assess its impact precisely and work more closely with product and commercial teams will have a real competitive advantage. The opportunity is to give compliance professionals the infrastructure to move at the speed of the business — without compromising the depth, judgement and expertise that good compliance requires.

What does your company do in one sentence?

Kalipso is a legal compliance platform for financial institutions that turns complex, constantly evolving regulation into actionable legal intelligence, connecting regulatory change to the specific obligations, policies, controls and products it affects so compliance teams can manage implementation continuously across jurisdictions.

Why did you decide to exhibit at FinTech Connect?

FinTech Connect brings together the people who are actually shaping how financial institutions respond to regulatory change. For Kalipso, that makes it the right place to have substantive conversations with compliance, legal and financial services leaders about what is working, what is not, and where the industry needs to go next. We built Kalipso as legal and compliance experts ourselves, so being able to engage directly with the professionals doing this work every day is particularly important to us, and ultimately how we continue building a product that solves the right problems.

What's a book, podcast, or resource you'd recommend to anyone working in fintech?

*The Checklist Manifesto* by Atul Gawande. It’s about medicine and other high-stakes professions rather than fintech, but the underlying problem is remarkably familiar: how do you operate reliably when the amount of knowledge and complexity involved has become too great for any individual to manage alone? It’s a great reminder that expertise remains essential, but the systems we build around experts determine how effectively that expertise can be applied.

What's one thing the industry often gets wrong?

The industry has become too comfortable managing the risk of non-compliance instead of solving for compliance itself. Historically, that made sense: regulation was simply too complex to identify and close every gap continuously, so we built an entire system around scoring, monitoring and mitigating risk. That constraint is disappearing. We can increasingly identify the exact obligation, the exact compliance gap and what needs to change to close it. If you can know where you are non-compliant and fix it, accepting that risk should no longer be the default.

If you could give the industry one piece of advice, what would it be?

Focus on what actually gets you to compliance. More alerts, more sources and more dashboards don’t necessarily get you closer to the right outcome. The real value comes from understanding which obligations apply to your business, what they mean for your products, policies and controls, and what needs to change. Give your compliance experts the tools to get to that answer faster, and let them spend their time on the judgement that actually requires their expertise.

What's something your team is particularly excited about right now?

We’re particularly proud of the depth we’re achieving in two areas: how we use AI and how we build regulatory coverage. We’re very deliberate with AI, we use it where it genuinely adds value, while much of the underlying legal work remains structured, deterministic and verified. Every analysis is grounded in the actual legal sources and designed to keep the expert in control. We take the same approach to coverage. Law is jurisdictional, so we build regulation by regulation and market by market, accounting for national implementation, guidance and interpretation. We’d rather provide deep, reliable coverage than claim hundreds of jurisdictions we only understand superficially. In legal compliance, we think depth matters.

What challenge are you helping financial institutions solve?

We’re helping financial institutions close the gap between regulation and implementation. Legal and compliance teams face an enormous and constantly evolving body of regulation across multiple jurisdictions, and the real challenge is understanding what actually applies to their business and translating it into changes to products, policies and controls. Kalipso does the heavy lifting around monitoring, applicability and impact analysis, so compliance experts can focus their time where it matters most: making the right judgement and implementing it across the business.

What industry trend are you watching most closely in 2026?

Regulatory fragmentation. Financial institutions are becoming increasingly international, while the rules they operate under remain deeply local. Even within Europe, a single piece of legislation can translate into 27 different implementation realities, alongside national regulators, guidance and secondary legislation. In 2026, we’re watching that complexity become increasingly difficult to manage, particularly as institutions continue expanding across markets. Understanding regulation globally while implementing it locally is becoming one of the defining compliance challenges for financial services.

What can attendees expect when they visit your stand?

Come and see what legal compliance should look like today. We’ll show you how Kalipso takes complex regulation and turns it into something a financial institution can actually act on — what applies to you, what has changed, which products, policies and controls are affected, and what needs to happen next. Whether you work in legal, compliance, risk, operations or product, come by for a live demo and a conversation about what continuous compliance looks like in practice.
