Alexandre Barrat joined the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) in 2010 in the Department of investment services providers supervision. From 2011 to 2017, he led / participated in on-site inspections of investment services providers (investment banks, brokers, custodians, financial advisors). In 2017, he joined the Fintech, Innovation and Competitiveness team in charge of accompanying fintechs and thinking about potential evolution of the regulation framework in the context of digitalisation of financial services. He contributed inter alia to the conception of a legal and regulatory framework for crypto-assets at the national level (Initial Coin Offerings and Digital assets services providers) and to the reflection on the supervision of security tokens and artificial intelligence. He represents the AMF at ESMA’s Financial Innovation Standing Committee and ICO Task Force on a regular basis. He represents the AMF at the Artificial Intelligence sub-group of the Joint Committee of the European Supervisory Authorities. He is now deputy head of Fintech, Innovation and Competitiveness.
Alexandre is alumnus of Ecole normale supérieure de Lyon, he holds a bachelor and a master’s degree in mathematics, a bachelor’s degree in chemistry (University Claude Bernard Lyon I) and an engineer’s degree in statistics, economy and finance (ENSAE ParisTech). He holds a professional certification in cryptography about the blockchains Bitcoin and Ethereum (Eureka Certification).
