Salla Franzen

Chief Data Officer SEB

Salla Franzén is the Group Chief Data Scientist at SEB. She leads a team of data scientists working on analytics and applied artificial intelligence/machine learning use cases together with the business in order to inspire them to become more data-driven. She is involved in the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software research program, a research initiative aiming to create a community of AI researchers in Sweden during the upcoming 10 years. Within the program she advises an industrial PhD student within Topological and Geometric Data Analysis for data anomaly detection. Salla is also the coordinator for the industry path of the working group creating an AI agenda for Sweden on behalf of the Swedish government.

 Salla has a PhD in theoretical mathematics. After doing research in several complex variables, Salla chose to move to the financial industry and worked as an analyst at a hedge fund. She has been working within SEB since 2011. She started her career at SEB as a risk analyst, became the head of the index equity funds at SEB Investment management AB and has also worked within SEB Private banking and counterparty risk modeling at the group level.
