A customer asks an AI agent to find the best insurance policy, renew a software contract, restock office supplies, book travel under budget or switch utility provider. Somewhere inside that instruction, a payment has to happen. Agentic commerce turns payments from a final checkout moment into a delegated decision, raising difficult questions around consent, authentication, fraud, liability, customer experience and merchant visibility. Banks, PSPs and merchants now have to decide what needs to be built before autonomous purchasing can be trusted.
