Gurdeep Singh Kohli

Global Head of Enterprise Innovation, Standard Chartered Bank

Gurdeep is part of the Group Strategy team at Standard Chartered Bank. In his current role as the Global Head of Enterprise Innovation, he is responsible for enabling a culture of innovation and measuring the impact of innovation across the bank. He is also responsible for shaping strategic discussions for the Board and Global Management Team on several topics with a focus on SC Ventures.

Prior to this, Gurdeep was an Operating Member of SC Ventures, leading the business in Europe and Americas. As one of the founding members, he helped set up SC Ventures with a focus on building new business models, venture incubation and governance, and client co-creation. He was instrumental in building a portfolio of over 30 ventures, many of which were successfully launched.

In 2021, he relocated from Singapore to London to expand the SC Ventures mandate in Europe and Americas. In addition to building new businesses, he served on the Board of a few ventures across UK, Germany, UAE and Singapore. He was also responsible for SC Ventures’ Strategy and Intrapreneurship efforts within the Bank.

Gurdeep has over 20 years of experience in financial services strategy, innovation and venture building. Prior to joining SC Ventures in 2018, he was a MD in Group Strategy covering wholesale banking. Gurdeep joined Standard Chartered Bank in 2011. He started his career with McKinsey & Co in India in 2001 before joining Credit Suisse’s Corporate Development and Strategy Group in 2008.

Gurdeep holds a post graduate diploma in International Business from Symbiosis Institute of International Business, India, a Post Graduate Diploma in Investment Banking from ICFAI and a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree from Delhi University, India. He currently lives in London with his family. In his spare time, he likes to write and has published a couple of children’s books for his daughters. He is now working on a book for young professionals.
